    The Purpose-Built Campus (continued)

Effective use was made of the existing sloppy terrain in the connection of the different facilities to various level of development. The split leveled sports area advantage of the terrain to obtain different functional activities and seating levels.

The positioning of the four storey residential facility at the northern and highest points of the landscape not only offered a commanding uninterrupted view of the Atlantic Ocean and skyline of the city at night but also a location away from the major traffic and commercial activities at the road side. The sandwiching of the academic/library sections between the social/auditorium areas and the residential units, also afforded a congenial educational environment for teaching and studying. One of the fundamental reasons for locating the social facilities and parking to the south was also to have direct entry/exit access to the main road for easy and effective communication with both social and administrative functions. Such communication becomes all the more easier with the proposed overpass to connect to the other side of the main southern highway. It also afforded the opening up of the southern wing for the otherwise limited anticipated parking space for users of the auditorium and the administration block.
